The beauty of the Catholic church is that it has a sacramental structure that can hold its own with the best out of any tradition. It has a mystical system and content that can hold its own with the best out of Tibet… its an amazing tradition, but I think you need to be critical.
I love the beauty of the Catholic and Anglican High Church. The ritual, the community theater of it, can open your heart to a deep reverence by connecting you in the moment to beauty. In beauty one finds the divine. Theology, the talking about it, unless in poetry simply muddies the waters and sews human opinion and confusion.
The spiritual life feeds one’s strength and courage,
The religious life feed one’s brokenness and fear.
All too often the fearful and broken are under the delusion that just being religious makes them strong and brave.
